Church Covenant

Our church covenant is located in Article III of Kahului Baptist Church’s Constitution. The practical everyday outworking of this covenant is intended to be carried out by every member of KBC with a spirit of self-sacrifice, love, and Gospel-centeredness. The church covenant states:

In our commitment to these Articles of Faith, we make the following covenant: having been led as we believe by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into the covenant with one another as one Body in Christ.

We pledge, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this Church in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote the prosperity and spirituality of this Church; to sustain its worship services, ordinances, doctrines and discipline; and to contribute cheerfully and regularly with our time, tithes, and talents for the support of the ministries and expenses of the Church.

We also undertake to maintain family and personal devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to strive to walk uprightly in the world; to be just in our dealings and faithful in our engagements; to avoid gossiping, backbiting and excessive anger; to use our influence to combat the use of abusive drugs and the spread of immorality (e.g., pornography); and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Savior.

We further commit ourselves to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense and always ready for reconciliation, mindful of the admonishment of our Savior to secure it without delay.

We, moreover, affirm that when any one of us moves from this place, we will as soon as possible unite with some other church in our new locale where we will continue to carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
