Romans 11:11-24 – Bill Staton [OUTLINE]

Due to technical difficulties we are unable to post the sermon on Romans 11:11-24 by Bill Staton preached at Kahului Baptist Church on August 11, 2013.  Below is the outline of the sermon.

 

Israel Set Aside. ? (Romans 11:11-24)

I.   Background
   A.   God identifies His people
       1.  Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 12:2,3)
       2.  Mosaic Covenant (Genesis 19:3-6)
   B.   His people are identified with God
       1.  Their God is Almighty (Joshua 2:8-11)
       2.  Their God seen as in Israel (2 Kings 5:15-18)
       3.  Their God seen as with the nation (Ruth 1:15-17)
II.  It has a Definite Purpose
    A.   Salvation for the Gentiles (11:11a,b)
        1.   Isaiah prophesied (Isaiah 49:1-6)
        2.  Jesus tells why (Matthew 8:5-12 & 21:42-44)
        3.  Paul and Barnabas clarify (Acts 13:44-48)
     B.   Salvation for the Jews (11:11c-15)
        1.  Started with the Jews (Genesis 12:3)
        2.  It’s form them and to them (John 4:22; Romans 1:16,17)
        3. Paul ached and prayed for them (Romans 9:1-5, 10:1)
        4. Spiritual life will replace spiritual death (Isaiah 11:10,11; Luke 15:24)
III.  It was a Definite Premonition
     A.   The covenant with Abraham was permanent (11:16)
         1.  Consecrated with Abraham (Numbers 15:18-21)
         2.  God is faithful (Isaiah 51:1-3)

     B.   God gives fair warning (11:17-22)
         1.  Blessed not Entitled (Jeremiah 11:16,17)
         2.  Blessed beyond dreams (Isaiah 65:1-3)
         3.  All shall be blessed (Galatians 3:6-9, 13,14)
         4.  Fear feeling worthy (Ephesians 2:11-13; 1 Corinthians 10:11,12)
IV.  It has a Definite Promise (11:23,24)
      A.   God is gracious to restore those who repent (Zechariah 12:10)
      B.   God’s never ending mercy, forgiveness, and cleansing power (Zechariah 13:1,2)
      C.   Salvation for the Jews (Isaiah 59:20)
V.   Application
      A.   What needs to change in your life, heart, home for anyone to be jealous of your relationship with God?
      B.   As you think about someone you consider rude, irritating, or offensive, how can you develop an attitude that glorifies The Lord?
      C.   What are you doing to promote unity and love among all believers in KBC?
